Background:

It took me more than two years to travel through provinces visiting different art galleries in China. Like everyone I started out in Hong Kong on Hollywood Blvd. for the tourists. Soon, I found out where the retailers got these exquisite antique-like oil paintings. As you travel further inland, the price gets better while the quality becomes more consistent. The artists at these galleries have different skill levels. They started with art school apprentices doing the colorful background. The more skilled ones do the outline, and the most skillful artists with good credentials do the details. Above all, the art professors who command the highest fee provide mostly instructional duties and take most credit; sometimes more so than they deserve. Since 1990s art, calligraphy, and paintings in China is recovering and flourishing everywhere. Before that, there was not much going on in China in the way of western art during most of 1949-1980s. The government looked the other way for a few years and then cracked down on the “evil capitalist taste”. Many famous Chinese artists during that era stationed overseas. NYC is a good example with many masters and schools. Lately, you see more and more Chinese kids on weekend taking art lessons. Old teachers now returned from overseas, and some finally left “bull pans for being counter-revolutionary artists”. The very experienced artists who did revolutionary themes during the turbulent years have returned to their old trade. People there now appreciate the beautiful artist things due to affluence and appreciate better quality arts.

While I don’t claim to be an expert of oil paintings, I do know how easy it is to make a bad stroke. The art galleries in the US sell limited quantity prints for $200-500 each. The quantity is limited only to the number they can sell. By going to the “starving artists” exhibit and find the mass production commodities are getting quite pricey. Where can one find affordable good taste oil paintings for your own use?

Alternative:

I got the answer for you. After making special arrangement with art galleries whose business model is less mass production oriented, and are more custom service oriented, I have qualified a few suppliers who will adhere to the high quality and business standards. Through arrangement with them who demonstrated consistent detailed work, I came up with a solution to offer these affordable high quality reproduction oil paintings. These dedicated artists started out imitating from the famous artist (Didn’t we all?) and developed their own style. I want to give these guys an opportunity to develop their skills so someday they will be as good if not better than the famous artists. In summary, I believe you can get good quality original oil paintings at below print price direct from China without worrying.

Bidding Method:

Bid as you feel comfortable. I put the minimum price around 1/3 to 1/4th of comparable US retail price.

Each painting has passed highest QA standards before packaging. The method that has been proven is painting canvas will come to you rolled around paper tubing for support. It is covered with bubble foam sheets for several layers and taped on the outside. Unless someone purposely try to force bending the package (a no-no in shipping industry) it is considered quite satisfactorily. We don’t see need for a vacuum formed container as it will incur additional cost to you.

If you win bid on them, and don’t send $ within 7 days, I regret I have to take you off any future customer list as well as all E-auction bidding rules apply, as we are required to adhere to them. Your credibility is at risk.

Grading:

We deal in above average to very good quality items. Our requirements are more stringent than commercial mass production items. We paint upon your request; we don’t stock assembly line quality like what you are used to.

Grade B-The quality you would expect from US mass production shows. They have flaws and I don’t carry them. We scrap them at the factory.
Grade AA- normally by art school graduates with 1-2 years of experience. They are commercial grade seen often in the USA
Grade AAA- normally by senior artist with more experience. More strokes and details. For flowers they tend to be livelier with more petals. With human it is more vivid but restricted to may be 1 person.
Grade AAAA- normally by art college graduates with significant experience. The composition is also more complicated. The quality is as good as any famous US artists. Also the quality of material used is better than above.

Shipping Method:

By DHL carrier from China directly to North America (I only deal with USA and Canada in US funds at this time). I have ~900 different designs and can not stock them in America by grade and sizes. The shipping cost is US $22. first ½ kg. You get a better deal if ordering more than one painting. Depending on the size and weight you may get away without additional cost. The additional 2^nd half-kilo (up to 1 Kg) is $10.00. Unless one lives in a high crime area it is not necessarily in North America to buy insurance. The insurance cost is as high as the freight. The US customs exempts the first $200. So you should not pay tax.

Speed of Processing

Depending on when we get the money cleared, it will take about 1-2 working week to reach you in America.

Method of Payment:

Paypal, Money order, and Cashier’s cheque only. California residents need to pay 8 ¼% sales taxes.

Return Policy:
None of the artwork is off the shelf, each painting is custom ordered and prepared just for you. They are not refundable. The exchange of a different artwork requires that you pay the return postage and additional $20 for the process fee directly to the manufacturer with a valid reason and photo images.
